Kochi, June 10, 2025 — In a stirring celebration of sportsmanship and environmental responsibility, the Kerala Blasters Army—the spirited official fan club of Kerala Blasters FC—successfully wrapped up its week-long green campaign, “A Tree for a Goal,” held from June 1 to June 7 across all districts of Kerala.
The campaign took root from a simple yet powerful idea: One Goal. One Tree. To honor the 52 goals scored by Kerala Blasters FC across the entire 2024–25 season—including the Durand Cup, Indian Super League (ISL), and Super Cup—the Army planted 52 tree saplings, each symbolizing a goal and a promise for a greener tomorrow.
But this wasn’t just tree planting—it was a movement.
Football Meets Forestry: A Cause with a Kick
Blending the unifying power of football with the pressing need for ecological stewardship, “A Tree for a Goal” brought together fans, communities, and leaders under one canopy of change. From bustling cities to quiet villages, fans came out in yellow to plant hope in the form of trees—underlining the message that supporting your team goes beyond the stadium.
“Football brings people together. Why not let that unity heal the planet too?” said a spokesperson from the Kerala Blasters Army. “Every goal we cheered last season is now a living, breathing sapling that will grow with the dreams of our club and our people.”
Star Support & Community Roots
The campaign gained momentum and credibility through the involvement of State Agriculture Minister Sri. P. Prasad, who lent his presence and voice to this green movement. Adding a touch of football legacy to the event was T.G. Purushothaman, Kerala Blasters assistant coach and former Santosh Trophy champion, who joined the fans in planting saplings—a symbolic act of nurturing both nature and future football talent.
Backed by the energy and coordination of the Kerala Blasters Army’s dynamic state committee members—Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad—the campaign transformed from a symbolic gesture into a full-fledged grassroots movement for environmental responsibility.
The Blasters Army: A Force On and Off the Field
Since its inception in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has redefined what it means to be a fan club. Known for its thunderous chants and iconic presence in the West Gallery of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi, the Army has consistently used its platform for community upliftment—from organizing blood donation camps and football tournaments to mobilizing relief efforts and social media awareness drives.
With “A Tree for a Goal,” the Army has now sown the seeds of what will become an annual tradition, reinforcing its commitment to people, planet, and passion.
“This is more than football,” said Abhijith K.S., one of the lead coordinators. “It’s about building a legacy that lives outside the stadium, in every tree that grows with our goals. We want fans to realize that cheering doesn’t have to stop at full-time. It can continue in acts of kindness and sustainability.”
Looking Ahead: A Goal for Every Future Victory
As the saplings take root across Kerala’s soil, they stand as symbols of a community that refuses to stay passive. The Kerala Blasters Army plans to expand this campaign in future seasons—possibly involving schoolchildren, eco-volunteers, and local clubs to create more awareness around climate action and responsible fanhood.
The long-term vision? A forest of goals—a living tribute to every strike scored by the team, and every step taken toward a better planet.
